1099 Form Printing: Why ez1099 Stopped Working

Question from customer: ez1099 software suddenly stopped working this morning. When I clicked the shortcut icon on my desktop, I got "ez1099 stops running error". How can I fix this error?



Solution: Please check the possible reasons below:

1: User permission issue

Please make sure you log on your machine as administrator or a user with enough permission to run ez1099. This is the most common reason.

2: Shortcut is broken

Open the program folder. The default folder is:

C:\Program Files (x86)\Halfpricesoft\ez1099(20XX)

for example:

If you are using ez1099 2014, the folder is
C:\Program Files (x86)\Halfpricesoft\ez1099(2014)

If you are using ez1099 2012, the folder is
C:\Program Files (x86)\Halfpricesoft\ez1099(2012)

Double click "ez1099.exe" file to start ez1099 software.

If you can run ez1099.exe from program folder, remove the broken desktop icon, add follow the article to add a new shortcut on desktop.

3. Settings file is messed up

Open the application data folder:

C:\Users\Public\Documents\Halfpricesoft\ez1099(20XX)

If you are running ez1099 2015, the data folder is:
C:\Users\Public\Documents\Halfpricesoft\ez1099(2015)

Rename file "settings.xml" to "settings_old".xml

Restart ez1099 and enter the key code again.

You may need to click ez1099 top menu "Company Management" then "Select company" to switch the current company.
