Why the asterisks are printed before the amount field on check?

With ezCheckPrinting software, you can design and print checks in house easily. When you print a check, you will see two asterisks before the amount field. It is for fraud prevention. So other people cannot modify the check amount easily.

You cannot remove the asterisks from the check. Our check printing software has been in market since 2005. US banks accept checks with this amount format.
