File 1099 Electronically: Self-File or Use ez1099's In-App E-File Service

ez1099 simplifies 1099 and 1096 form preparation, including paper printing, PDF printing, and electronic filing (e-filing) to the IRS.

With ez1099 2025, you have two options for e-filing 1099 forms with the IRS:

1. In-App Direct IRIS E-Filing Service - No TCC required; we file on your behalf.

2. Self-Filing to FIRE - Requires your own TCC (Transmitter Control Code).

Important Notice for IRS FIRE E-Filers

  • The IRS has announced plans to retire the FIRE (Filing Information Returns Electronically) system on December 31, 2026.

  • Starting in January 2027 (for Tax Year 2026 / Filing Season 2027), the IRIS (Information Returns Intake System) will become the only authorized platform for submitting information returns - including those previously filed through FIRE.

  • Up through tax year 2025, the FIRE system will remain available for most 1099 forms, but it will not support Form 1099-DA (Digital Asset Proceeds).

  • ez1099 2025 users are encouraged to take advantage of the new built-in direct IRIS e-file service, especially if you need to file the new 1099-DA form or prepare for the upcoming transition away from FIRE.
